Found my apple juice

Well, getting unpacked is low on the priority list, but I have a confession to make. Under my jackets was my sack of rebar. Under my sack of rebar was some costumes and a 1/3 loaf of bread. Under my 1/3 loaf of bread was the fuzzy blanket and Indian pillow. And under the fuzzy blanket and Indian pillow was, you guessed it, my apple juice. I am so sorry for accusing you fine folks of taking my apple juice. I was wrong and apologize from the deepest bowels of my heart. I shall never accuse anyone from Burntown, Outer Rim, Foothill Burners, Sacto burners, or any other random burner of stealing, molesting, drinking, or otherwise tormenting my apple juice. My apple juice is safe at home and chilling this very minute. I love my apple juice and I know you will too. Please accept my apology and be assured that one day I will share my apple juice with all of you.

Playa Time!!!

It's been in the low 100's. Verizon has about 24 channels, and AT&T has about 36 channels of cellular. The cell site is on private property near Frog. We have cell service at all 5 points of the fence line, although it will soon become impossible to seize a trunk once the population swells. Cell service is good in Gerlach as well. Bring a rake, as the dunes are back. The City is at the same place it was in 2007. It doesn't look too bad around 8:30 & Esplanade, but the further north you go it gets bumpy. Tonight is early burn. Wednesday night is Ladies night.

Our Happy Dome will be decked out this year with the bar, EL wire, Fire peeps, and tons of fun!. The Pioneer 100 is a champ, as they always are.

The Numark Axis 9 is a really cool CDJ with lots of really cool effects. It's done great for me for the past 7 years.

The main knob for the pitch control is missing, but you can still use the metal "stem", and sometimes the fine-pitch-adjustment button doesn't work, but you can use the jog wheel instead.

Want: Old army tent

Does anyone have an old army tent they can donate to my art project Extra Body Parts? It can be ratty as hell, just needs to withstand the wind for a week. I would like people to be able to stand in it. The smaller the better actually. If only two or three people could fit in it, that would be great, It may not come home, but it will be remembered fondly.

Rafting trip this Saturday, AUG 1st???

So as most of you know I went through guide school and bought a raft. I am lookin for peeps who would like to spend a day on the river this Saturday August 1st. I need at least 4 as many as 7people to make this work.

Where: Lower South Fork of the American: Lotus Park to Greenwood bridge

Cost what ever you would like to contribute. If we set up our own shuttle about $5 per vehicle to park and $3 put in fee. We can used the River Store Shuttle for $7 a person, it take less time set up, but we have to be at the take out at a set time ready to go. I dont care which we use, Ill leave it up to the group, but i need to know early that morning so i can get the tickets if we use the shuttle...

If you have a family group or a bunch of friends, I would love to take you down the river any day except Wednesdays, no water :-(...

Hey foothill burners,

Some of you may know me as the keyboardist for the DeadBeats! This will be my 9th burn! My camp for the last 8 years is NOT going this year, so I am a bit freaked about going a new direction. We always camped in the 7-9 area but because of gigs I am camping near 3. If you need some extra campmates or just want to meet up on playa let me know. :)

I have a funk/fusion dance band going to BM for our 2nd year. We have three confirmed shows so far:

Tuesday night, Terminal City @3:15 and B/C (time yet to be determined)
Wednesday night, the Nautilus X (art car) 9-midnight
Friday night, TransMorphadome, 10-11:30 @ 3 and the Esplanade

Camp GravyBrain looking for a camp location in the 3 o'clock area, we have about 12 folks and 2 yurts.

Isaiah Marsh has been missing since April 14th 2009. There have been some new developments. As of yesterday (May 21st) his truck was found in the Southern California / Riverside area. According to the Union newspaper, the truck was found, however, no mention of his person.

Damn tribe and their failed instant messaging attempt. I mean, really, what else does face crack have over tribe? your blog could be updated more frequently and it would be like a status update. You got your pictures here but you can't tag 'em. shiiiiiit even Myspace can tag pics...you could use real names over here or you can use fake names over there. Most people don't use fake though because they want to be found. And vice versa! Plus you don't have any of those LAME applications!

My friend Dave had his account spoofed, and somebody was sending me emails to buy stuff making it look like it was legitimately sent by Dave. DON'T TRUST EVERYTHING YOU SEE/GET!!! Then, when I tried to log in to MySpace last night, Tom said I had to change my password because my account had been targeted for Phishing! FUCK MYSPACE!!!!!!!!! TOTALLY UNSECURE SITE, and WAYYYYYYY too much advertising! FaceBook is the ONLY way to go, at least for me...............

Birthday at the Buffet

We all know that a picture is worth more than a thousand words...
And we are asking you to please share those words, your pictures and your story at the Burning Man Regionals Leadership Summit!

What's a Burning Man Regionals Leadership Summit?
The last weekend in February, the regional contacts far and wide will converge in San Francisco to learn and share with each other -- and that includes bringing it - all of you and what you've done since last February to be displayed at the summit!

This is not a screensaver project. This is something else entirely.

For viewing at the summit, we are looking for anything Burning Man Regional Event Related, photos and video of activities that have occurred in your area, especially regional events, BWB activities, BRAF installations or other Burner art in your area, etc....

This means photos that were taken at a regional event that occurred anytime in 2008 - Present Day.
Old photos are nice, and photos of Burning Man are nice - but not appropriate for this project.

technical specs of what is needed to participate from Smoke Blower, our awesome San Diego Regional who is putting this together:

--Full res photo from a digital camera - this allows me to have more room for cropping and animation in the video.

--JPG or JPEG format (really the same format, just JPG is the three letter extension for Windows and JPEG the type for Mac)

--Ideally the file is named to describe the event or activity taking place.

--No watermark if possible, though the photographer's watermark is OK. SmokeBlower will be placing captions on each image describing the location and event, and it would be a lot easier for him if you DON'T include captions on the photos you send

--Resolutions lower than 1024x768 make it more difficult - but if the subject matter is really great, please send them too.

Additionally,

+ We are looking for video or audio interviews of Burners who've made something special happen in your region (including yourselves! - don't be modest!). Especially interesting is discussion of how a project came to be, or what effect it had in the local Burner community or even better on the local general community. Once again, this can be events, event art, public art, civic / BWB activities, or individual reports on how an event or activity changed that person's life.

+ We're also looking for before and after shots - a site before a cleanup or art installation, an event site before Burners transformed it, a civilian before she or he was turned into a rock star. And, of course, the result of that effort - the art, the event aflame, the new Burners in all their glory.

If you have videos to submit, please let us know offlist and FTP or some other means to get the files will be set up -ideally, looking for 640x480 min resolution if we can, so not typical youtube or vimeo, etc .

Dear America,

I take it back. I don’t apologize.

Because you know what? It’s none of your goddamned business. I work my ass off 10 months per year. It’s that hard work that gave you all those gooey feelings of patriotism last summer. If during my brief window of down time I want to relax, enjoy myself, and partake of a substance that’s a hell of a lot less bad for me than alcohol, tobacco, or, frankly, most of the prescription drugs most of you are taking, well, you can spare me the lecture.

I put myself through hell. I make my body do things nature never really intended us to endure. All world-class athletes do. We do it because you love to watch us push ourselves as far as we can possibly go. Some of us get hurt. Sometimes permanently. You’re watching the Super Bowl tonight. You’re watching 300 pound men smash each while running at full speed, in full pads. You know what the average life expectancy of an NFL player is? Fifty-five. That’s about 20 years shorter than your average non-NFL player. Yet you watch. And cheer. And you jump up spill your beer when a linebacker lays out a wide receiver on a crossing route across the middle. The harder he gets hit, the louder and more enthusiastically you scream.

Yet you all get bent out of shape when Ricky Williams, or I, or Josh Howard smoke a little dope to relax. Why? Because the idiots you’ve elected to make your laws have have without a shred of evidence beat it into your head that smoking marijuana is something akin to drinking antifreeze, and done only by dirty hippies and sex offenders.

You’ll have to pardon my cynicism. But I call bullshit. You don’t give a damn about my health. You just get a voyeuristic thrill from watching an elite athlete fall from grace–all the better if you get to exercise a little moral righteousness in the process. And it’s hypocritical righteousness at that, given that 40 percent of you have tried pot at least once in your lives.

Here’s a crazy thought: If I can smoke a little dope and go on to win 14 Olympic gold medals, maybe pot smokers aren’t doomed to lives of couch surfing and video games, as our moronic government would have us believe. In fact, the list of successful pot smokers includes not just world class athletes like me, Howard, Williams, and others, it includes Nobel Prize winners, Pulitzer Prize winners, the last three U.S. presidents, several Supreme Court justices, and luminaries and success stories from all sectors of business and the arts, sciences, and humanities.

So go ahead. Ban me from the next Olympics. Yank my endorsement deals. Stick your collective noses in the air and get all indignant on me. While you’re at it, keep arresting cancer and AIDS patients who dare to smoke the stuff because it deadens their pain, or enables them to eat. Keep sending in goon squads to kick down doors and shoot little old ladies, maim innocent toddlers, handcuff elderly post-polio patients to their beds at gunpoint, and slaughter the family pet.

Tell you what. I’ll make you a deal. I’ll apologize for smoking pot when every politician who ever did drugs and then voted to uphold or strengthen the drug laws marches his ass off to the nearest federal prison to serve out the sentence he wants to impose on everyone else for committing the same crimes he committed. I’ll apologize when the sons, daughters, and nephews of powerful politicians who get caught possessing or dealing drugs in the frat house or prep school get the same treatment as the no-name, probably black kid caught on the corner or the front stoop doing the same thing.

Until then, I for one will have none of it. I smoked pot. I liked it. I’ll probably do it again. I refuse to apologize for it, because by apologizing I help perpetuate this stupid lie, this idea that what someone puts into his own body on his own time is any of the government’s damned business. Or any of yours. I’m not going to bend over and allow myself to be propaganda for this wasteful, ridiculous, immoral war.

Go ahead and tear me down if you like. But let’s see you rationalize in your next lame ONDCP commercial how the greatest motherfucking swimmer the world has ever seen . . . is also a proud pot smoker.

I too have been banned for saying I disagreed that the current little man of a moderator was unfair for banning Cowboy Angel and FKO. Granted, I am friends with CWA and to be honest I don't like FKO. But to ban people at will for no real reason at all is ridiculus.

Decent size room, with closet for rent in 1000 sq/ft, 2br/1bath house on 1/4 acre, 1 mile from old town Auburn. Room for 1 more car to park. Bike-able and walkable to many places. Not far from Auburn Rec. Area. This is not a party house, but I've been known to have some friends over for drinks and/or may have a drink with dinner. House is fully furnished, bedroom is not. House has some space for your homey items and a little storage in the garage. There is laundry as well.

Me:
30 something working professional female (wake up around 6:30 & go to bed by 10), very grounded, very clean/neat, like to cook, artsy, eclectic, music nut, exercise daily, handy, constantly working on projects, have an eco-conscious home, have a 1 year old male lab dog and a 3 year old female cat. Both very friendly and loving.

You:
Grounded, neat/clean, willing to pitch in on shared chores, responsible, pay bills on time, not flaky, excuse and drama free. Females only please.

Pets are allowed as long as they get along with those already here and aren't destructive. Extra security deposit required due to past damage.

Rent is $500/mo plus 1/2 of utilities, which in the winter run about $100-125. In summer they run around $75. Includes internet, water, garbage, electricity and pellet fuel for the heater. (there is no cable TV here.)

There is a $500 security deposit, refundable upon departure.

I'm looking for a possible temporary housemate...3 months? If all goes well, possibility to stay longer.

I'm trying to put as much about the house and me out there. If this sounds like a match for you, please be in touch and tell me about you, what you do, etc.

I'm looking for the right fit for the room, not just any person to fill the space.

I have 10 pieces of 1" diameter pvc, great for making a burningman structure. Some are slightly bent, some are straighter.

Who wants em??

I will even tell you how to build the structure. I've used these many times and they rock.

Burn Tickets

Some of you probably know this, but they are selling 1000 tickets to Burning Man for people who may want to purchase Christmas presents. They are supposed to be 3rd tier prices at $260 each. I wonder what that means 1st and 2nd tier are going to cost.

By popular demand, we are pleased to announce the resurrection of the
Burning Man Ticket Pre-sale, in advance of the holidays, for Burning
Man 2009!

For years we’ve heard feedback from enthusiastic early-planner types
who’d like to be able to gift Burning Man tickets to friends and loved
ones at the holidays instead of waiting until January. As always, this
year’s ticket will illustrate our art theme – Evolution – and we deem
it particularly beautiful; a perfect gift. Other participants aren't
so concerned aboutholding out for the lower-priced tickets available
on launch day, and would rather get a ticket now, and thus avoid the
rush.

In answer, we give you the Holiday Ticket Pre-sale. Here's how it will
work: we'll offer 1,000 tickets at $260 each (this will be the third
tier ticket price for ’09; more details on the full ticket launch will
be posted on our web site on December 12). These tickets will be a
special allotment and the quantity will NOT come out of any of the
pricing tiers for our regular ticket launch on January 14. (And no, it
won’t affect your chances to try for any of the first or second tier
tickets when they’re available.)

Pre-sale tickets will be available online beginning Friday, 11/14 at
10:00am PST.

Tickets will stay on sale until 11:59pm PST December 28 OR the
allotment of 1000 presale tickets run out, whichever comes first.

Autumn Art Studio tour

This weekend is the Autumn Art Studio Tour. It runs Friday the 7th thru this Sun the 9th from 10AM to 5PM. There are over 50 locations featuring 90 local artists. Plus some of the local wineries will be open for tastings. More datails in "Perspectives" magazine or.

Controlled Burn and Burning Man will be in the Nevada Day Parade again this year. The theme is: Hollywood in Nevada.

Burning Man- “Misfits of Nevada .”
Division 4, entry # 079

“Misfits of Nevada " This entry will twist the title of the movie The Misfits. Burners are encouraged to outfit themselves in their finest burner attire with western flair. Movie character personalities also encouraged. Entry will include art cars/mutant vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.

Controlled Burn - "The Godfathers of Fire"
Division 4, entry #080

"The Godfathers of Fire" will be dressed in mobster, gangster, showgirl attire. Dave King will be shooting off his propane effects & Johnno, The Rhino will be in charge of the beats. Entry will include propane effects, art cars, stilt walkers, hoopers, cyclists & support crew. If you want to come out and play with fire, insurance and fire marshal card is required. If you are a hooper, stilter, cyclists, etc. no insurance is required, dress up in either theme and come on out and play with us! Line-up time is 9am on West Long St. in Carson City on Saturday 11/1.
